THE TRIP IN BRIEF
- Four of us went on a tour to Srilanka 0n 18 November 2017 . After landing at Negombo (40 kms from colombo) at Bandaranaike airport we were received by Mr Budhika with a smile on his face . In a seven seater car the specially arranged driver Kusun took us to a beach resort in Bentota . After a over night stay at Bentota by the beachside hotel we went to gale , Rumassala and Ahangama . Stayed at a hoteloverlooking the Indian Ocean at Ahangama and next day early morning went to Mirissa to watch Blue whales . It took about six hours round trip boat ride in the Ocean and we watch the diving blue whales , an amazing experience indeed .
- Our next stop was Ella , the hill station . The drive was through rural areas and amidst amazing greenery . It was night before we reached Ella . In the morning trekked Little Adam's peak for a wonderful view of a mountain gap and then watched the gushing waters of Ravana falls by the road side and also climbed A hillock to have a look at Ravana Guha .
- Spent another night's stay at Ella in a hotel and watched a beautiful sunrise from the hotel balcony . Then took a picturesque rail ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya ,another hill station . It was pouring heavily and in the rain went first to Sita eliya ( Ashoka vatika ) , where Lord hanuman found Sita and consoled . Half Sundarakanda should have happened here and near by places .
- Next stop was the second largest town of Srilanka "Kandy ", famous for its lake and tooth relic temple and shopping of sapphires . On the way saw Ramboda where Lord Hanuman landed first before entering Ravana rajya . Incidentally Srilanka has moon stone mines and sapphire mines . Night halt at Kandy , then visited the Dambulla caves and sigriya and back to Negombo in the evening . after over night stay at Negombo , caught early morning direct flight of Srilankan airlines and reached home , sweet home at Hyderabad .
- I will try to describe this tour of Srilanka for the benefit of those who wish to travel to Srilanka , particularly the ones who wish to have a look at Ramayana places with reverence .
- One word . Sri Lanka is beautiful . Visit this place . People are polite and hospitable . Food is amazing , try local dishes . The place is neat and clean . The trip is not expensive . The total cost from Hyderabad on a week's visit is less than Rs 50000 /- per person , which includes air travel, transport by chauffeur driven vehicle , food, stay in three star hotels and the entrance fees at monuments and much more .
